How many times have handcuffs been put on people who have been through divorce and remarried? They have had problems enough, yet they have found themselves ridiculed, and made to feel ashamed, and have been treated as a second class citizen. The sad thing is, this happens in the churches, by Christians.
If this book will be read with an open mind - and heart - by Christians who have been guilty of hand-cuffing fellow Christians who have BEEN THROUGH (past tense) the tragedy of divorce, I believe that they will view this situation in a different conception.
Romans, chapter eight: verse one, reminds us that "There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit."
When a divorced person finds someone to love, who loves them back, and they have formed a union together in marriage, they are now "one" together in Christ, man and woman, as one. They have bridged the path behind them and have ventured into a new beginning. This should be a blessing for those who have had a bad experience through a bad marriage. And they should have the blessings of fellow Christians also. Divorce frees one from the bond of marriage; you are no longer married to that former spouse, all rights to him (or her) have been evicted.
So many times these couples have wanted to be used in church, only to find themselves being viewed as a "smaller vessel" who is only allowed to do certain things for the Lord. They are handcuffed and put into the outer circle of service.
There is forgiveness for all sins, and when we try and justify one and condemn another, then we are taking God's love and turning it into favoritism. This message produces the image that "Jesus forgives one more than another", and this is false doctrine.
I sincerely hope that this book will not be shunned, instead, that it will be read by all church members, and hopefully, all will realize that we "Call have sinned and come short of the glory of God". We can never refuse a job for anyone who have been called out by God to do His service. If we know Him, we have all been -- and are -- individually called out to serve Him.
May this "book" encourage someone to be the first to "REMOVE THE HANDCUFFS" and see God's work flourish in everyone's life, not just through a chosen few directed by man's opinion.
Past failures can not be fixed, however the future can be!
